Helios, the a Greek Gold of the sun often depicted with a radiant crown. Greek Coinage struck during the time of Alexander the Great have lead scholars to believe in the uncanny resemblance of the two.

This 1/12 stater was struck by Alexander’s Uncle on his warrior mother Olympias side. Alexander the Molossian would fight for nephew early in his reign until his untimely death. Did he produce a coin in honor of Alexander or Helios?
