The Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion departed Havana in September of 1641 carrying over 1,000,000 pesos in bullion coins packed into cedar chests. About a week into her sail she struck a hurricane and was separated from the rest of the fleet. She set a course for Puerto Rico when she became stuck in the Abrojos reefs, which are treacherous coral reefs north of Hispaniola.

Much of the treasure was recovered in 1687 and the wreck remained forgotten until recently.

This Bolivian 8 Reale was on board that ship and was recovered in the late 1970s.
