The Daric was first introduced by Darius I (522-486BC) at the end of the 6th century BC. Coining money for Persian Empire was a new concept, and they saw how prosperous it could be. Inspired by the Lydian system, the oldest in the world. The Persians would set a new trading standard for the next 250+ years.
