This gold Solidus was minted during the reign of Honorius, Western Roman Emperor from AD 393-423. Honorius was the younger son of Theodosius I and ascended the throne at the young age of eight. His reign was marked by the decline of the Western Roman Empire, including the Sack of Rome by the Visigoths under Alaric in AD 410.

The obverse features Honorius wearing a helmet and pearl diadem, draped and cuirassed, holding a spear over his shoulder and a shield facing forward, emphasizing his role as a military leader. The reverse depicts Constantinopolis enthroned, holding a scepter and Victory on a globe, symbolizing Roman authority and divine favor.
